China – Beijing in pictures: the start of an adventure

We’d been saying we’d do it for more than 20 years, but in the end it only took one phone call.
“Konnichiwa, let’s go to Japan.”
Well, there was a little bit more to it than that, but my friend Mami and I are out here for two weeks so I won’t bore you with the whole story yet.
Of course, when you fly all that way, you have to consider stop off points: and Beijing sounded pretty much perfect to us (you were wondering why this post was headlined China when it’s been all about Japan so far, yes?).
After flying out from Gatwick on Friday evening, it’s been go, go, go. That’s going to the Great Wall of China, going to Tiananmen Square, going to The Forbidden City and going to a fair few other places in Beijing as well.
Over the next two weeks, Mami and I will be in Tokyo, Osaka and the south of Japan so keep an Eye out – a naked one of course – for our latest news on this blog.
To kick off, here’s a few pictures from Beijing to whet your appetite.

Oh Shell what an incredible trip this is for you and your friend! Love all the photos – I lived in the far east for two years (Taiwan) but never made it to the mainland. It’s fascinating and beautiful. Have a wonderful time – it looks like you are!

    Hugs, Pam
