Bristol – Gromit Unleashed!

I have an apology to make to the people of Bristol.
Faced with a week long course for work based in their fair city, I was – travel wise at least – about as excited as Morrissey at the Royal Wedding.

But my negative outlook couldn’t have been more wrong.
Bristol is a lovely little city, packed full of a host of pretty churches and parks along with an array of visitor attractions.
The Clifton Suspension Bridge is perhaps the best known site in Bristol, but my trip mainly took me to the busy city centre where bustling pubs and restaurants sit alongside relaxing green spaces.
Bristol Zoo Gardens also captured my heart, with its cute array of animals and leafy environment.
And then there is Gromit.
Right now in Bristol, everyone’s favourite canine inventor is everywhere.
That’s because the city is in the middle of its Gromit Unleashed! adventure.
Eighty Gromits, 10 weeks, one city.
The scheme is the brainchild of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal and Aardman Animations, and has seen 80 larger than life Gromit statues erected in every corner of Bristol.
For those of you – shame on you – who have no idea who and what Gromit is, check out their YouTube page.
The Bristol Gromit’s are painted in all kids of colours and designs, including a Union Jack Gromit and sculptures designed by the likes of Joanna Lumley, Jools Holland and Harry Hill.
And perhaps best of all, Gromit Unleashed! is raising money for the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.
The one drawback: it only runs until September 8 – so get yourself down to Bristol as soon as possible for a bit of Gromit spotting, there’s a good lad!
