Blog – An adventure begins…

It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.

Of course, Bilbo Baggins’ journey in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings took him to the Lonely Mountain and on a quest to claim treasure from the dragon Smaug.
But the idea that each day, each step away from the familiar, each trip into the unknown can wind up in an adventure is surely one that is familiar to all travellers.

Far from being, as Tolkien’s hobbits might say, ‘nasty, uncomfortable things that make you late for dinner’ adventures are exciting, awe-inspiring and mind broadening – and should be embraced.
Naked Eye Travel chronicles some of my adventures; and will look at some of those experienced by other travellers from around the world.
As Bilbo says, once you have taken a step outside your door you are in danger of finding an adventure, so Naked Eye Travel aims to explore every part of the world, from the park at the end of your road to deepest, darkest Peru.
I hope you enjoy the adventure.
