Oktoberfest – Pictures of beer (and other things)

Oktoberfest is not only a feast for the beer loving senses, but for your eyes and ears as well. From incredible fairground rides to traditional costume (and sometimes – look away now Mrs Lewis – what’s in them), to majestic beer tents and brilliant bands.

Oktoberfest – Remember the funfair before the steins…

If I was to say Oktoberfest to you, would your first thoughts be of funfair rides and shooting galleries, fine wine and views of historic cathedrals? Would you even bring to mind the scores of school parties dressed in traditional clothing that flock to the event?

California – Free things to do in the Big Sur

I don’t know about you, but even during bountiful times I think it’s fun to discover things we can do without spending much money.

Hook Norton – A stroll down Brewery Lane and a glass or two of Hooky

You know you’re on to a good thing when you find yourself walking up Brewery Lane. At the end of this enticing roadway, you will find yourself outside a somewhat ramshackle looking Victorian building.

Blog – My favourite travel stories of the week

Cruising down the river with statues that look like Vladimir Putin, discovering a multi-billion dollar playground capital in Kazakhstan and staring death in the face on a plane to Macau.
